Prentis Hancock has joined the cast of ‘Outlander’ in the role of archeologist and father figure, Uncle Lamb. Starz announced this tidbit of news earlier today:

Prentis is a veteran of the infamous ‘Doctor Who’, original series run, making an appearance on 14 episodes between the years of 1970 and 1978. He also starred in a show called ‘Space: 1999’. His IMDB resume seems to show extensive television experience, as well as a familiarity with science fiction work. He hails from Glasgow, Scotland.
In lieu of this casting announcement, I think it’s safe to assume we will see some scenes between young Claire and her surrogate father. Perhaps he will be in some of the scenes of Frank and Claire together as Ron mentioned they will do to help establish that relationship so we can understand Claire’s intense desire to return home to her husband.
I think I can speak on behalf of most ‘Doctor Who’ fans out there that we look forward to seeing your performance, Mr. Hancock! Congratulations on the casting!
