As many Outlander fans know, the series’ journey to screen has been a long brewing one. Author Diana Gabaldon has spoken on many occasions about the numerous attempts to condense her lengthly novel into a two-hour movie, all to no avail. Executive producer Ronald D. Moore agreed a feature film was not the correct route to take for this particular story and set out to create the 16 episode series that will debut on Starz in August. In a new featurette titled “Book to Series,” the pair discuss how Moore became familiar with the book series and Gabaldon’s involvement with production. The video also offers new behind the scenes footage and scenes from the series.
