Yesterday via Twitter, Facebook, and the Outlander newsletter, Starz announced there will be a full red carpet premiere event in New York City for the screening of Episode 109, “The Reckoning.” Cast and crew will be in attendance.
The event is on April 1, 2015 at 7 PM at the Ziegfeld Theatre in NYC.
The event is open to the public, but the tickets and the waitlist is now full. (click here)
There was a similar situation for the Episode 101 premiere at San Diego Comic Con. The theatre was not full, so if you really want to go and don’t have to spend large amount of money doing so, it may be worth a shot. If you don’t get in, you can still stare at the cast and crew (and probably Diana Gabaldon) on the red carpet.
Update (3/30/2015): Here are some of the details released today for those who will be attending:
Cast/crew in attendance for Q & A: Ronald D. Moore, Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Caitriona Balfe, Graham McTavish, Gary Lewis, and Lotte Verbeek.
On the red carpet, there will be an exhibit with costumes on display and some original 3D models used for the show.
Will Call and the exhibit open at 5 PM. Theatre doors close at 6:45 PM.
If you do not have a ticket to the premiere, you will not be able to enter the exhibit.
In regards to the Periscope app that Starz is using to livestream the event, this is an app that is only available to iPhone/iPad users. If the link is tweeted, you will be able to watch the event on your home computer. If you do not have an Apple phone or similar device, I do not know if you will be able to see it. It is not known whether the footage will be able to be re-played. If you have the app, you probably will be able to watch it at your leisure. I am hoping Starz will post the footage to YouTube. Google Hangouts On-Air is such a better option…
