Diana Gabaldon announced yesterday that she finished writing the ninth book in the Outlander series, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. This book has been years in the making and writing, and all Outlander fans are grateful for the work Diana selflessly puts into her work just to continue the story of Claire and Jamie.
As many have asked already (and answered by the patient Diana), she does not know the publication date as that is completely up to the publisher and many factors go into deciding the date. It might be this year or next year, but we will be sure to share when the date becomes official.
Below are tweets from Diana about finishing Bees and answering some questions about it.

YES! BEES is FINISHED!! (No, I have no idea when the pub date is–the publisher decides that.) pic.twitter.com/aSPvYvWSx9

Ecstasy. And a delightful feeling of total virtuous exhaustion. https://t.co/lFnAlWJVkt

I have zero to say about the pub date. The publisher decides that (why they're called the "publisher", aye?). 😜 https://t.co/mVdyIq8AHa

I repeat: I have nothing to do with setting the pub date. They'll pick a date based on all kinds of factors, including (a big one) when they can schedule press time: you need a company with large printing capacity to do a book like this, and https://t.co/lOHFir08OW

(I'm told) there are only two such companies left in the US, owing to Covid economy. Beyond that, it's what _else_ is coming out, when. And _might_ have to do with other promotional considerations, like show/droughtlander timing–but that, I don't know.
